The One Show
Pancake Day is approaching and my book A GOOD EGG rather handily has an excellent pancake recipe in it, so the BBC’s The One Show set me a pancake making challenge - was using an expensive pack of ready made pancake mix any more convenient than the traditional batter of eggs, flour and milk? The short answer is no. Its takes twice as long and costs half the price. In a bag of batter mix you are really only getting flour and skimmed milk powder, you still need to add egg and measure in water. So all you are saving is the trouble of weighing out the flour, and that takes a really long time, right? And the ready mixed pancakes took twice as long to cook. The film is available on iPlayer for just 29 days, after which it presumably self destructs. Watch it here The One Show Pancake Challenge, at about 11 minutes in.
