BRISTOL FIRE SCHOOL
Bristol Fire School has one overriding aim - to help people 'Do Fire Better'.
All classes are hands on and practical and will be led by me, Genevieve, assisted by Becky, Fire School’s Kitchen Manager. We will teach you to cook better food over better fires, it’s that simple.
To cook great food over fire you need to know how to light, control and work with the fire. Fire management is absolutely fundamental to success, the foundations of everything. Master this, and it just becomes cooking. And you can cook, right? It’s also worth pointing out that Fire School is not just about learning to cook great big hunks of meat, nice as they are - this will be a well rounded omnivorous experience. I’m well known for my love of vegetables but there will be meat too, good meat, cooked well.
Everyone is welcome at Bristol Fire School, this is a machismo-free space in which to learn and enjoy fire, and most importantly, cook something great to share. Fire cooking may be a male dominated craft but women light brilliant fires. Fire is the original cooking tool, going back many thousands of years, and women were the ones who did the cooking. This comes naturally to us. Trust me.
CLASS STRUCTURE
Classes run in a central Bristol location from 10am-4pm and cost £175 (except the American Low and Slow class which is £235). The structure of each day may vary a little from course to course but generally you arrive, we make a quick coffee and get straight into lighting the fires. Then we cook, talk and tend the fires together until around 2.45-3pm when we will sit down to share a late lunch of fire cooked food. You are welcome to bring some beer or wine to enjoy when we sit down to eat, but no booze allowed when we're cooking. There will be one or two snack breaks during the cooking, you definitely won’t go home hungry!
